PM Modi’s mega roadshow in Somnath draws massive crowds as temple town turns into sea of celebration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a grand roadshow through the streets of Somnath, drawing massive crowds as the temple town erupted in celebration ahead of the Somnath Amrut Mahotsav, commemorating 75 years since the inauguration of the reconstructed Somnath Temple.

Waving tricolours and BJP flags, thousands of people lined both sides of the roads to greet the Prime Minister, turning the coastal pilgrimage town into a vibrant spectacle of devotion and festivity.

PM Modi received a rousing welcome upon his arrival, with chants, drum performances and cultural displays accompanying his convoy as it moved through the city amid elaborate security arrangements. Residents, devotees and BJP supporters gathered in large numbers, many dressed in traditional Gujarati attire, while flower decorations, welcome arches and illuminated streets added to the celebratory atmosphere.

Authorities deployed extensive security arrangements across Somnath in view of the Prime Minister’s visit and the expected influx of devotees and dignitaries. Several cultural programmes and welcome events were also organised as part of the celebrations.

During his visit, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Somnath Temple and participated in key religious ceremonies, including the Vishesh Maha Puja, Kumbhabhishek and Dhvajarohan, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

PM Modi will also release a commemorative stamp and a commemorative coin to mark the 75th anniversary of the restored shrine.

Adding to the grandeur of the occasion, the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is set to conduct a special aerial display over the Somnath Temple complex. Six Hawk Mk-132 aircraft will perform synchronised aerobatic formations above Prabhas Patan, blending heritage celebrations with a display of aviation skill and national pride.

The Somnath Amrut Mahotsav is expected to witness participation from thousands of devotees, saints, artists and dignitaries as Gujarat commemorates a major milestone in the history of one of India’s most revered temples.
